The Great Arkansas Cleanup – 2013

On Saturday September 21, 2013 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., Bull Shoals-White River State Park is sponsoring a cleanup in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, The Great Arkansas Cleanup, Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock and Marina Services, Arvest Bank, and Harps Grocery Store. Hikers, kayakers, canoeists, boat owners, and outdoor enthusiasts should register at the James A. Gaston Visitor Center between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on September 21. You will be given bags for trash, data sheets and a location for cleanup coupled with the knowledge that you have made a difference on a world wide scale by starting in our own backyard. There will be a cookout at the State Park Pavilion in the Day Use Area from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. to return data sheets and receive cleanup t-shirts and a great meal. If anyone wishes to pre-register and clean up a part of the lake far away from the state park you may e-mail Julie Lovett at julie.lovett@arkansas.gov by midnight September 16, upon which you will be sent information and a data sheet. You will need to print off the data sheet and return it to the Day Use Pavilion at the State Park between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to receive a meal and t-shirt for participating. (No mail-in’s please).
